Grand Rapids, Mich. — Rivalry Wednesday brought plenty of excitement for the Aquinas faithful, but the evening reached another level of pride and celebration during an incredible tribute between games. Aquinas honored its fall sports teams that captured WHAC Conference Championships, showcasing the Saints' dominance in the conference. This year, not one, not two, but three Aquinas teams earned WHAC titles, proving that AQ Athletics is a true powerhouse.
Let's take a moment to look back and celebrate these three exceptional teams and their outstanding accomplishments.
AQ Women's Soccer
First, we recognize the AQ Women's Soccer team, led by Coach James DeCosemo.
The Saints delivered a historic season, finishing ranked 9th nationally with an impressive 17-1-2 overall record and an unbeaten 11-0-1 mark in conference play. This extraordinary team didn't stop there—they captured both the WHAC Regular Season Championship and the WHAC Tournament Championship, cementing their place among the nation's elite programs.
This season also marked the Saints' fifth consecutive WHAC Conference crown, a remarkable feat that highlights the consistency and excellence of the program.
AQ Women's Volleyball
Next, we celebrate the AQ Women's Volleyball team, led by Coach Ryan Campbell.
The Saints dominated the court all season, establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the WHAC and the nation. Their stellar performance earned them the honor of hosting the first round of the NAIA National Tournament—only the second time in program history!
The Saints concluded the season ranked 15th nationally, boasting an incredible 40-3 overall record and a perfect 18-0 mark in WHAC play. Their hard work, talent, and determination made it a truly unforgettable season.
AQ Men's Cross Country
Finally, we honor the AQ Men's Cross Country team, led by Coach Mike Wojciakowski.
The men's cross country team delivered a dominant performance this fall, repeating as WHAC Cross Country Champions. The Saints showcased their depth and talent, placing eight athletes in the top 16 and finishing a staggering 49 points ahead of the second-place team.
