The AQ men's volleyball team defeated Siena Heights, 3-0. The team concluded its first tournament of the year on Sunday (Jan. 12) with a victory in in the final game of the Michigan Men's Volleyball Invitational (MMVI).
The team followed up victories against Olivet (3-0) and Adrian (3-0) on Friday (Jan.10) and has won all nine of its sets so far this season.Â

Aquinas won the three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-21. The team hit .304 as a team with 50 kills and only 15 errors. AQ had a 50-28 edge in kills while committing one less error than Siena Heights (15-16). The Saints also held advantages in blocks (6-5), assists (48-27) and digs (60-41).

Joshua Boothroyd led the team in kills with 16 and hit .333.Â
Zane Moothart had 13 kills with a .258 hitting percentage.
Robert Valerio finished with nine kills and a team-leading .727 hitting mark.
Will Donald hit .357 and had seven kills while
Ruben Lopez finished the day with five kills.Â

Colby Elder had 47 assists while Boothroyd and Moothart each served an ace.
Josh Evers had 19 digs to lead AQ on the day. Moothart and Lopez finished the match with 15 digs and eight digs respectively. Elder had seven digs while Boothroyd and Donald had five digs each.

Defensively, Donald was the team leader in blocks with five while Boothroyd had three and Moothart finished with two blocks.

The Saints are off of the court until Friday, January 17th when the team heads to Chicago to take on Saint Xavier University at 7:00 PM.
