Intramural sports are for everybody! Community is a pillar of our institution and we aim to build our community through physical activity. We offer a variety of sports at multiple skill levels because we want intramural sports to be fun and inclusive for all. All skill levels are welcome to participate.

Intramurals also requires that participants fill out a medical liability waiver to be able to compete. That can be found under the “Insurance and Liability” section below.

Vision:

The Aquinas intramural program strives to create positive play and recreational opportunities for all. We aim to contribute to the development of individuals through physical activity reinforcing sportsmanship, fair play, and positive competition. The intramural programs objective is to develop and strengthen a caring, Catholic community on campus by encouraging students, faculty and staff to lead active, healthy lives.

Goals:

  • Provide open recreation opportunities for all members of the Aquinas community.
  • Facilitate organized activities, leagues and tournaments.
  • Encourage a foundation for lifetime participation in recreation and physical fitness.
  • Serve as a resource for recreational opportunities in the community.

Code of Conduct:

Creating a positive environment for everyone to play and have a good time is everyone’s responsibility. Please help IM staff by refraining from the following unsportsmanlike behaviors: profanity, abusive or foul language, arguing, taunting, flagrant fouls, fighting. If any of these behaviors occur the IM staff will kick you out for that league night and there may be additional consequences based on the severity.

Formal complaints:

In the event of unsportsmanlike behavior please try to mitigate the behaviors by reminding others of positive play and appropriate manner. If the behavior persists, please reach out to the IM director and a formal complaint will be filed. Players and teams will be warned, but if two formal complaints occur then suspensions or bans will follow.

Proper Attire:

Please wear appropriate athletic attire when competing (athletic shoes and clothing). (No open toed shoes, or cleats).

Forfeit policy:

Any team that is not ready for their contest after five minutes of the scheduled game time will forfeit to the opponent. Forfeited contests will not be rescheduled. Teams with two forfeits during league play will not be eligible for tournament play.

Insurance and liability:

All individuals who participate in IM activities will be doing so at their own risk. Each participant is responsible for knowing what their own physical capabilities are and they are responsible for participation within the rules. The IM staff encourages physical exams before participation. All participants will need to sign a waiver to release all risk and harm from the IM program and Aquinas College. In addition, this waiver authorizes IM staff to seek emergency medical services for any team members if an extreme situation occurs, with the understanding that each participant is responsible for any expenses incurred. The medical release waiver can be found here.
