The Aquinas men's volleyball team moves to 0-2 in WHAC play after Wednesday night's (Jan. 28) road loss against #13 Goshen. AQ, which is receiving votes nationally, hung tough with the Maple Leafs as it split the first two sets before dropping the final two. The Saints fell in four sets by scores of 21-25, 26-24, 15-25, and 15-25.

AQ moves to 0-2 overall after having played back-to-back days in two WHAC contests. Goshen advances to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in league play after their first WHAC matchup and win tonight over the Saints.

The Maple Leafs outperformed the Saints defensively, having totaled 58 digs to that of 46 for AQ. Goshen also recorded 15.5 team blocks while Aquinas only tallied four on the night. The Saints notched 35 kills and recroded a .069 hitting percentage, while the Maple Leafs hit .186 percent on their 46 kills. The Maple Leafs also added 12 aces in tonight's league showdown to that of only seven for the Saints.Â

There were many Saints that contributed to their offensive effort, as
Julian Armendano led the team with 13 kills and recorded a .162 hitting percentage. Armendano tallied 14 kills in yesterday's matchup against Indiana Tech. Against the Maple Leafs tonight, he also contributed seven digs and two service aces.
Gavin Jonker produced eight kills for the Saints while hitting .200 and added two digs.
Matthew Richmond almost matched his performance from yesterday, recording 20 assists in tonight's match.

Leo-Paul Rousseau tallied 13 assists while
Daniel Littleton added five kills to the Saints efforts. The pair of
Kelsey Yogi and
Josh Evers each had 15 digs for the Saints. Yogi also recorded three aces in tonight's matchup.

AQ will return home to continue WHAC play next Tuesday, Feb. 2nd against Cornerstone. The matchup will be hosted at the Sturrus Center at 7:00 PM.
