The Aquinas dance team was victorious in its season-opening competition on Saturday night (Jan. 30), as the Saints won a three-team virtual competition. AQ competed on its home floor in the Sturrus Center and finished ahead of Concordia and Cumberlands, which also competed at their respective schools.
With a team score of 67.6, the Saints easily finished ahead of Cumberlands (54.9) and Concordia (54.0). Aquinas had a strong team score of 72.1 and even with a 4.5 deduction, the Saints won the virtual opener by nearly 13 points.
AQ posted 4 out of 5 difficulty scores in all three styles during the competition, excelling in pom execution and uniformity. The Saints earned high marks in the team leap and maxed out at a 5 in difficulty and a 4 in execution.Â
Aquinas will compete next Saturday (Feb. 6) again in the Sturrus Center. At 11:00 a.m., the Saints will take on Concordia, St. Xavier, Lawrence Tech, and Madonna.Â
