Aquinas Dance Defeats Siena Heights in Virtual Competition

The Aquinas dance team recorded its highest score of the season on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 14), as the Saints topped WHAC counterpart Siena Heights in a virtual competition. AQ won the head-to-head competition by a score of 75.76 to 62.86.

AQ performed inside the Sturrus Center, while Siena Heights competed on its campus in Adrian. Aquinas tallied an overall team score of 77.26 and had 1.5 points of deductions for its winning tally of 75.76, its best mark of the year. Siena Heights had just 0.5 points of deductions, but its overall score was 63.36 for a final total of 62.86.

The victorious Saints totaled high scores in jazz, which became their highest-scored style in difficulty, execution, and uniformity. AQ also earned high scores across the board in staging and formations.

Their performance featured great energy and synchronization, while also highlighting the difficult choreography of the routine.

Aquinas finished in first place in its previous two competitions before defeating Siena Heights on Sunday. The Saints have one more tune-up performance on Monday (Feb. 15) with another virtual competition against Mount Mercy at 6:00 p.m.

AQ will head to Ann Arbor on Friday for the WHAC Championships at Concordia.
