For the second day in a row, the Aquinas dance team put together its best performance of the year, as the Saints defeated Mount Mercy in a head-to-head virtual competition on Monday night (Feb. 15). AQ posted a second consecutive dual victory with a score of 79.25 to 71.55.
The Saints topped WHAC opponent Siena Heights on Sunday (Feb. 14) with a then-season high score of 75.76. On Monday at the Sturrus Center, Aquinas put up nearly 80 points in the team's final official tune-up before the WHAC Championships.
Head coach
Ashley Rowe said of the team's performance on Monday, "The routine continues to improve with each competition. Each dancer is getting physically stronger, which strengthens the power of their movement, and makes their technique very dynamic. They have a goal to defend their WHAC title in the conference championship this week, and their efforts are really showing through in their performance."
The judges complimented AQ's team leap and called it "the highlight of the routine", helping score 4.5's across the board.
Aquinas has competed four times this season, twice finishing first in multi-team competitions while also winning head-to-head matchups the last two days. The defending WHAC champions, AQ competes in Ann Arbor on Friday (Feb. 19) at the 2021 WHAC Championships, hosted by Concordia.
