The Aquinas women's tennis team lost a 4-3 match to visiting Spring Arbor on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 20) at the MVP Sportsplex in Grand Rapids. AQ split the singles competitions with SAU, but the Cougars won the pivotal doubles point to take the match.
In #1 doubles,
Joska Volder and
Sofia Gomez easily handled Spring Arbor's duo by a 6-0 score.
Vanessa Heylmun and
Grace Kelly dropped a close 6-4 final at #3 doubles.
Volder was also victorious in #1 singles, winning 6-2, 7-6, while Gomez also recorded a 6-4, 6-2 victory at #2 singles. The Saints earned a win at #3 singles, as
Darci TerHaar topped her opponent 7-5, 7-5. Heylmun went to three sets at #5 singles before falling, 2-6, 6-0, 3-6.
Aquinas is back in action next Saturday (Feb. 27), when the Saints men and women host Lourdes at 2:00 p.m.
