The Aquinas men's tennis team picked up a WHAC victory on Sunday (Mar. 28) at the MVP Sportsplex, as the Saints defeated Lawrence Tech by a 5-2 score. All five of AQ's wins came in singles play, with the Saints moving to 2-2 in WHAC play with the victory.
Aquinas has won two of its last three matches, also beating Lourdes on Mar. 12 at home. The Saints are 2-3 on the season with a pair of regular season matches left to play.
Simon Uhlen and
Nicholas Klak were victorious at #2 doubles by a 6-2 score, but Lawrence Tech collected the doubles point. However, Aquinas cleaned up from there, taking five of the six singles matchups.
Max Goldbeck-Lowe earned a comeback victory with a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 win at #1 singles. Uhlen also won at #3 singles, 6-3 and 6-4, while Klak won at #4 singles, 6-3 and 6-3.
Mariano Arroyo won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 at #5 single and
Brandon McEachern prevailed in three sets, 0-6, 6-3, 10-6. Even AQ's lone singles loss –
Joel Hancox at #2 singles – was a tough battle that went three sets: 1-6, 6-3, and 5-7.
The Saints are off until April 10th, when AQ heads to Lima, Ohio to face UNOH at 2:00 p.m.
