The Aquinas men's volleyball team fell in a 3-0 sweep against WHAC rival Lourdes on Friday afternoon (Mar. 5) in Sylvania, Ohio. Lourdes won by straight set scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 25-10 in the WHAC showdown between nationally ranked teams.

AQ, which is receiving votes in the latest top-15 Coaches' Poll, falls to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in WHAC play. #10 Lourdes improves to 9-1 on the season and 7-1 in conference action. These two team met for the 2019 WHAC Championship and played a thrilling five-setter last season before the 2020 campaign was cancelled due to COVID.

Lourdes lived up to its top-10 ranking on Friday, posting a 48-21 edge in kills and hitting .333 in the match, while holding AQ to a .125 mark. The Saints led in blocks (6-5), but the Gray Wolves held advantages in aces (8-1), assists (46-20), and digs (45-36).

Julian Armendano led AQ with six kills on 18 swings and added the Saints' lone ace.
Sean Kelley provided seven digs and four kills to go with two block assists.
Daniel Littleton added a team-best four block assists and three kills, while
Matthew Glass put down three kills in six attacks and added two blocks.

Matthew Richmond supplied 11 assists and five digs, while
Leo-Paul Rousseau chipped in eight assists and four digs.
Josh Evers picked up a team-high eight digs and
Robert Valerio added three blocks.
