Bourbonnais, Ill. – Yesterday (Oct. 8) the men's swim and dive team traveled to Bourbonnais, Illinois for a Tri-Meet against Olivet Nazarene and Bethel (Tenn.) This weekend, the men registered their first win in program history in the process of five new school records.
The Saints bested the Bethel Wildcats while falling to the Olivet Nazarene Tigers. The scores were as followed.Â
Olivet Nazarene: 202 - Aquinas: 59
Aquinas: 160 - Bethel: 72
Ethan Tennant got the day started for the Saints with a pair of new school records. First in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, Tennant finished with a time of 18:19. While averaging splits between 29 and 34 seconds, he place third in the event. He was joined by Conrad Eichbauer and Grant Bricking who finished with times of 18:19 and 18:38. Then in the 400 Yard IM, Tennant finished with a time of 4:32 for another record. He was followed up by fellow freshman Baryn Robar who completed the event with a time of 4:59.
Then sophomore, Christopher Uzunoe-Chin, etched his name into Aquinas history, by setting the school record in the 200 fly. He did so with a time of 2:25.
Next the relays from AQ decided to have a day. Beginning with the 400 Medley Relay, the squad of Ian Clapp, Cesar Robles, Collin Neely and Matthew Dumbsky set the new standard with a time of 3:51. This time placed them third overall in the event.
Finally the men's 400 free relay set the last school record of the day. The team of Luke Martin, Dylan Bietz Braden Augustine, and Dumbsky swam their way to a time of 3:24. This placing them third in event.Â
Aquinas will be back in action next Saturday for a meet against the Wildcats from Indiana Wesleyan. The Saints will travel to Marion, Indiana for the contest that begins at 2:00 PM
