Men's Swim and Dive Returns to the Pool in Double-Dual Meet

Results

After two months of a big training block, the men's swim and dive team was back in the water for a double dual meet against Wheaton and Olivet Nazarene. Despite not being able to secure a victory against either university, the Saints' iron will would carry them to multiple great performances.

In the two head-to-head matchups, the Saints fell to ONU by a score of 209-63 and to Wheaton 188-88.

The first highlight from AQ comes from freshman, Ethan Tennant as he had one of the hardest trio of events in one day. First up in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, his time of 17:56 placed him fourth overall in the competitive field. This is the third fastest time in AQ history as he has swum 17:27 this season and Conrad Eichbauer has a time of 17:45. Speaking of Eichbauer, he placed third in the 500 Free with a 5:06, two second behind his personal best. This was Tennant's second event as he placed sixth with a 5:16. Finally, in the 400 IM he placed fifth earning more points for AQ with a time of 4:35.

Eichbauer would have another highlight tonight as he out-touched an ONU swimmer by .08 to finish 4th in the 200 free. He touched with a time of 1:53.56.

Freshman Ian Clapp executed strategic races in the 100 and 200 backstroke to place third in both events. He had times of 55.79 and 2:03 in the events. His time of 2:03 sits three seconds behind the school record.

Luke Martin continues to grow his impressive resume as he finished third in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. He did so with times of 1:01 and 2:19.

This double-dual meet serves as a warm up for the KCAC Conference Championship on February 2 through the 4th. This is the Saints first season as a member of the KCAC and they will look to make a big splash in their first appearance.
