Wichita, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) announced its monthly swimmers of the month on Tuesday (Nov. 5).
Luke Martin was selected as the most impressive male swimmer over the last month after several impressive performances. This is the first time in Martin's career that he has represented the KCAC as the swimmer of the month.
At the Davenport October Invitational, Martin put in several performances that put the NAIA on notice. He finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.67, earning a season-best time for the junior and a provisional qualification to nationals. His time in this event currently ranks third in the entire NAIA and is just 0.28 seconds behind second place.
Martin continued to impress in the 200-yard variation of the breaststroke, finishing fifth in the event with a time of 2:08.86. This provisional qualifying time ranks sixth in the NAIA and is less than one second away from a top-four time.
Furthermore, his extracted split time in the 50-yard breaststroke also ranks third in the nation with a time of 26.62.
The Ohio native has also been a part of AQ's free relays and medley relays, helping those teams to success this season as well.
Here is what head coach
Kristy Hepp had to say about Martin, "Luke has had an incredible start to this season and has done the mental and physical work to deserve this honor! To say that I am proud of Luke would be an understatement. I cannot wait to see what's in store for the rest of the season, and Luke will continue to play a big role in our team's success!"
