Saints Keep Rolling: AQ Women’s Volleyball Stays Unbeaten in Conference Play

Box Score

Fort Wayne, Ind. — When you're hot, you're hot. The AQ Saints Women's Volleyball team is playing remarkable right now but can ill afford to rest on their laurels. Yes, the WHAC Conference is all but locked up. Yes, they have won 14 straight matches and yes, they are undefeated in conference play. But you are only as good as what you did last, and for AQ, that means no taking days off and NEVER looking past an opponent. The Warriors of Indiana Tech are never easy, and even more dangerous at home. This will be the first of two WHAC match-ups and three matches for AQ this weekend.

Aquinas 3, Indiana Tech 0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-14)

Aquinas kept the pedal down and showed why they sit atop the WHAC standings, sweeping Indiana Tech in straight sets. The Saints' offense was locked in, hitting an impressive .390 as a team and controlling the match from start to finish. Cece Pelak led the charge with 11 kills and three blocks, while Lauren Chioini and Mel Beachnau each added nine kills apiece, with Chioini hitting .563 and Beachnau right behind at .615. Setter Natalie West orchestrated the attack brilliantly, dishing out 30 assists to go with three kills and six digs. Coaches' Comments
Following the game, Head Coach Ryan Campbell spoke about his team's mentality and how they balance success with continued improvement:
"We're proud of what this group has accomplished so far, but we can't let the streak define us. Every match in this conference brings new challenges, and our focus has to stay on getting better each time we step on the floor. Cece was dominant again at the net, Lauren and Mel were incredibly efficient, and Natalie ran the offense with great tempo. If we keep that kind of focus and consistency across the board, we'll put ourselves in a great position when it matters most — in the postseason."

Up Next
No rest for the AQ Women's Volleyball squad as they conclude their insane week of 'break' with a pair of matches on Saturday. First, a noon match with WHAC foe UNOH, followed by a non-conference showdown with #10 Cumberland at 2:00 PM. Fans are encouraged to follow live stats, scores, and recaps at AQSaints.com.
