The Saints are putting in the work, building chemistry, and sharpening their game with every frame — knowing that the results will come as their consistency grows. That dedication was on full display this weekend as Aquinas took on some of the nation's best programs at the prestigious Midwest Collegiate Classic held at 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Heights. Against a field loaded with powerhouse teams, the Saints once again showed grit, determination, and a belief that their time to climb the leaderboard is coming soon.

The Saints battled through a field of 52 teams at the 54th Annual Brunswick Midwest Collegiate Classic, gaining valuable experience against top-tier competition. Aquinas struggled on day one with execution, posting a five-game total of 4,772 pins, but rebounded impressively on day two with sharper adjustments and improved Baker play, climbing the standings to finish with an overall team total of 7,947 pins, good for 19th place. Senior David Schaberg paced the Saints with a five-game total of 1,016 pins and a 203.2 average, showing steady leadership throughout the event. Right behind him was Curtis Swezey, who rolled games of 212, 185, 182, 192, and 226 for a 997 total and a 199.4 average.

Dylan Maurer came up clutch late in day one, firing games of 241, 199, and 246 to finish with an impressive 858 total over four games for a 214.5 average, giving Aquinas a much-needed spark to close the block. Joshua Boersma added strong support with a 183.6 average, while Ian Carmichael, Nicholas Schaberg, and Tony Deluccia each contributed key games that helped the Saints maintain competitive momentum through the long weekend. Bradyn Curtis filled valuable frames as well, helping stabilize the lineup during critical transitions. Collectively, the effort showed that the Saints have the depth, talent, and determination to hang with some of the best collegiate bowlers in the country.

When the final pin dropped, St. Ambrose University captured the overall men's team championship, while Dawson Peterson of Wisconsin–Whitewater claimed the men's individual title with a blistering 1,197 total (239.4 avg.).

Coach's Quote

Head Coach Harold Klukowski spoke about the AQ men's team and the confidence he has that this program is trending upward:
"We're putting in the work, and we know the results will come. This weekend showed our guys that we can compete with anyone when we execute and trust our adjustments. I'm really proud of the effort, especially how we responded after day one. The team's energy, attitude, and belief in each other are exactly what we need to keep building. The future of this program is incredibly bright."

Up Next

Like the women's team, the Saints will have a little time to prepare for their next competition as they focus on practice through the rest of October. They'll return to action on Saturday, November 1, traveling to Clinton Township and Imperial Lanes for the WHAC Great Lakes Open, looking to carry their momentum into conference play.
