GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — After a standout stretch that showcased his elite scoring touch and clutch play making, Aquinas junior forward Ben Cesario has been named the WHAC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Cesario was electric for the Saints, continuing his ascent as one of the WHAC's most dynamic attacking threats. Through 18 games this season, the Ottawa, Ontario native has recorded eight goals and seven assists for 15 points, posting an impressive .800 shooting percentage while consistently generating high-quality scoring chances. His offensive output has been timely as well—two game-winning goals, including one in dramatic fashion—have made him a go-to finisher during tight moments in Aquinas' early-season surge.
A smooth-skating 6-foot forward with quick hands and exceptional hockey IQ, Cesario arrived at Aquinas after a successful junior career with the Fresno Monsters (USPHL). A Business & Sports Management major, he has steadily grown into a pivotal piece of the Saints' DI lineup, blending speed, creativity, and relentless effort on every shift. Whether attacking off the rush, working below the dots, or finishing near the crease, Cesario has developed into one of the conference's most reliable offensive weapons.
This recognition marks Cesario's first WHAC weekly award of the season and adds to the growing list of Aquinas hockey standouts earning conference honors. His continued development and consistent production highlight the depth and talent fueling the Saints' strong start to the campaign.
Coach's Comments
Head Coach Brandon Rozema praised both Cesario's growth and the team's overall progression:
"Ben has really taken a big step forward this year. His confidence, his pace, and his ability to finish plays have all elevated, and we're incredibly proud of the work he's put in to earn this recognition. At the same time, he'd be the first to tell you that it's a team effort — the guys around him are playing great hockey right now and helping create those opportunities. But for Ben personally, this is a well-deserved honor, and we're very proud of him."
Aquinas Athletics continues to shine across the WHAC, with student-athletes from multiple programs earning Player of the Week honors throughout the fall. Cesario's latest accolade further reflects the commitment, competitiveness, and pride that define the Saints. Once again — it's a great day to be a Saint.
