Fraser, Mich. — After a late-night battle on Friday that stretched past midnight, the Saints had little time to recover before facing Rochester Christian again on Saturday afternoon. Despite the quick turnaround, Aquinas showed no signs of fatigue, delivering an intense, back-and-forth contest that needed overtime to be decided. The Saints completed the weekend sweep with a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind victory.

OT Aquinas 3, Rochester Christian 2

Aquinas struck first midway through the opening period when Cooper Nienhuis found the net off a setup from Easton Pratt, giving the Saints a 1-0 lead after one.

Momentum shifted in the second period as Rochester Christian goalie Connor Maloney put on a show, stopping all 22 shots he faced. The Warriors capitalized on their opportunities, scoring twice on the power play to take a 2-1 lead into the third period.

Eight minutes into the final frame, the Saints answered with a power-play goal of their own. Alex Johnson buried a shot to tie the game at 2-2. Both teams had late chances in regulation, but neither could break the deadlock, sending the game into overtime.

Overtime didn't last long. Just 34 seconds into sudden death, Gavin Rozema made a dazzling move and slipped the puck past Maloney, securing a dramatic road victory for the Saints.

Coach's Take

Head Coach Brandon Rozema praised his team's resilience, "Rochester's goalie played unbelievably, but I'm proud of our team for battling back and walking away with an exciting OT win. After last night's huge victory, we knew they'd come out firing, and we'd get their best. It was an exciting game to be a part of."
