Records Fall as Aquinas Swim & Dive Eyes NAIA Nationals

Saints Make Waves: Aquinas Posts Best KCAC Finish Yet

Hobart, IN – After a season of hard work and record-breaking performances, the Aquinas College men's and women's swim and dive teams delivered their strongest conference championship showing to date. With multiple school records shattered and numerous podium finishes, the Saints cemented their place as one of the KCAC's rising programs.

The Saints had already set a school record for most wins in a season on both the men's and women's sides, but they weren't finished. The KCAC Championships were their chance to raise the bar—and they delivered.

Day 1 Highlights

Men's Highlights:

  • 200 Free Relay: Matt Dumbsky, Lucas Mondro, Luke Martin, and Titus Smith broke the school record (1:25.46), finishing 4th.
  • 200 IM: Martin (1:57.29) and Smith (1:57.41) recorded lifetime bests, finishing 5th and 6th.
  • 50 Free: Dumbsky placed 6th (21.37), setting a new school record in prelims (21.09).
  • 3M Diving: AQ's divers dominated, scoring the most team points in a single event in program history. Evan Bennett (2nd), Troy Borrero (4th), Lucas Castillo (5th), Sawyer Shank (6th), and Collin Alward (7th) showcased the team's depth.

Day 2 Highlights

Before the finals session, Amelia Edens and Titus Smith were honored as KCAC Champions of Character recipients for their leadership and commitment to the team.

  • Women's 800 Free Relay: Edens, Waller, Osborne, and Jogan broke the school record by over three seconds, finishing 4th.
  • Men's 800 Free Relay: Eussen, Smith, Mondro, and Clapp set a new school record and placed 4th.
  • 400 IM: Lucas Eussen demolished his own school record (4:11.39) to claim 3rd place.
  • 100 Breast: Luke Martin placed 2nd (56.47), breaking his previous school record. Tony Parlato finished 14th, setting a new personal best in prelims.
  • 100 Back: Titus Smith shattered the school record (51.24), finishing 2nd. Ian Clapp placed 8th, with Noah Berns (14th).

Day 3 Highlights

  • Men's 1650 Free: Eussen dropped 46 seconds off his personal best to finish 4th (16:50.23), setting a school record.
  • Women's 1650 Free: Waller broke her own school record (18:53.05), finishing 6th. Jogan (8th) and Monahan (11th) also posted lifetime bests.
  • 200 Back: Smith (1:52.18) crushed his school record, finishing 2nd. Joslin (6th) and Edens (7th) led the women's side.
  • 100 Free: Osborne swam a school-record 53.92, placing 4th.
  • 200 Breast: Martin took 2nd (2:05.47), while Parlato set a personal best (2:15.70).
  • 200 Fly: Eussen broke another school record in prelims (1:56.01) and finished 4th overall.
  • 400 Free Relays: Both AQ squads finished strong, with the men placing 4th and the women 5th.

Final Team Standings

  • Men: 3rd place (536.5 points) – Best finish in program history.
  • Women: 3rd place (511.5 points) – Best finish in program history.

Head Coach Kristy Hepp reflected on the team's success, "The KCAC Championship is the culmination of our season, and this year, we had our best finishes yet. The maturity and competitiveness of our swimmers and divers shined, and every single team member played a role in our success. It has been an incredible journey growing this team over the past four seasons, and I couldn't be prouder."
