Grand Rapids, Mich. – Aquinas College has officially named Marvin Hardy as the new head coach of the Saints women's lacrosse program, bringing in a leader with a proven track record of success and player development at multiple levels of the game.
Hardy steps into the role as the sixth head coach in program history, succeeding former head coach Coach Vasquez and interim head coach Kyle Goodbee. With an impressive résumé spanning high school, club, and collegiate lacrosse, Hardy brings a wealth of experience and a championship mindset to Aquinas.
"Aquinas women's lacrosse is built on a foundation of hard work, leadership, and teamwork, and Marvin Hardy embodies all of those qualities," said Dr. Ronald D. Reeves, Aquinas Athletic Director. "His passion for the game, commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field, and proven ability to build competitive programs make him the perfect fit for our women's lacrosse team. We are excited to see the impact he will have on our players and the future of the program."
Hardy has been the head coach at DeWitt High School since 2016, where he has led his teams to two MHSAA state semifinal appearances, two regional championships, and four conference titles, boasting a 70% winning percentage. His leadership has resulted in the development of numerous elite players, including four US Lacrosse All-Americans and 30 All-State honorees.
Most recently, Hardy served as an assistant coach for the Michigan State women's club lacrosse team while also co-owning and directing a successful summer lacrosse club. His extensive coaching education includes US Lacrosse Platinum Certification, as well as Level 1, 2, and 3 coaching certifications.
Coach Marvin Hardy is beyond excited for the next chapter of AQ Women's Lacrosse, "Stepping into the role of head coach for Aquinas Women's Lacrosse is an incredible honor. I'm excited to build on the program's foundation while fostering a culture of unity, hard work, and growth. Our focus will be on developing strong, competitive student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The future is bright for AQ Lacrosse, and I am excited to get to work with this team to push our limits and achieve new milestones together."
As the Saints prepare for their next chapter under Hardy's leadership, the program looks to build upon its history of success in the highly competitive NAIA lacrosse landscape.
