Box Score 2 Lake Wales, Fl. — The 2025 Aquinas Baseball team may not have the highest winning percentage in the land, but they continue to improve for the all import WHAC conference season. The Saints dropped a pair on Friday, but are able to hold their heads high in defeat.
Game 1: Cumberlands 6, Aquinas 0
A solid pitching dual for the first four and two-thirds, but the Saints were unable to get the third out in the 5th and Patriots would up pushing four across the plate.
Aquinas, offensively was unable to find the clutch hit in a 6-0 shutout loss. The Saints actually out hit Cumberlands, 9-7 in terms of hits, and had several scoring chances but stranded a whopping 11 runners on base.
Cumberlands broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues and timely hitting. The Patriots tacked on two more in the sixth, sealing the game behind strong pitching performances from K. Billings (7.0 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 6 K) and B. Rohrbach (2.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 K). AQ squandered solid pitching from Cameron Gross (4.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 6 K's), Mark Kalahar (2.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K's), and Caden Gregory. (pitched a 3 up, 3 down eighth inning).
For Aquinas, Dylan Nguyen (3-for-5) and Stephen Weinert (2-for-4, SB), JT LaMange (2-for-4) led the offense.
Game 2: Warner 6, Aquinas 3
Aquinas put up a fight against Warner, rallying for three runs in the sixth inning, but ultimately fell 6-3. The Saints struggled early as Warner built a 4-0 lead by the fourth inning.
The highlight of the day came from Grant Martin, who launched a two-run home run in the sixth. Chase Robinson added an RBI double, while Aidan Schmuckal (2-for-4, 2B) also had a strong day at the plate.
On the mound, Ethan Pequette (5.0 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 K) took the loss, while Warner's pitching duo of A. Ansalmo (7.0 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 6 K) and A. Vakiener (2.0 IP, 0 H, 3 K) shut the door late.
Inside the Numbers

"We made significant improvements today against two top quality opponents – not showing up in the win column yet. Still pretty happy with how we competed today, especially on the mount. We'll use these games as learning experiences and get ready for the rest of the trip."
