Grand Rapids, Mich. – Following a historic performance on her home track, Aquinas junior Maelie Hope has been named the WHAC Women's Track & Field Female Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference office.

The Aquinas women's track & field team returned to action Friday night by hosting the 5th Annual John Flaminio Classic inside the Alksnis Athletic and Recreation Building, welcoming Cornerstone and Southwestern Michigan College. The Saints turned in a dominant showing, tallying eleven first-place finishes on the night, highlighted by a school record and a national qualifying effort.

Hope delivered one of the most impressive all-around performances of the meet, rewriting the Aquinas record book with a time of 7.62 seconds in the 60-meter final. The mark set a new school record and earned a provisional qualifying standard for the NAIA National Championships. Hope's versatility was on full display as she also captured first place in both the weight throw (58-5.25) and the shot put (42-10.25), accounting for three event victories on the night.

Head Coach Mike Wojciakowski praised Hope's consistency and competitive edge following the meet.
"Maelie continues to raise the standard for our program," Wojciakowski said. "Her ability to compete at a high level across multiple events speaks volumes about her work ethic and preparation. She stepped up in big moments on Friday, and this recognition is well deserved."

Hope's recognition continues a familiar trend for Aquinas Athletics, as Saints student-athletes once again earn prominent placement in the WHAC's weekly honors. From the track to the field and across every sport, Aquinas competitors continue to raise the bar within the conference, proving that success is built through culture, commitment, and consistency. As Hope adds her name to the growing list of Saints recognized this season, one thing remains clear — it's always a great day to be a Saint.
