Springfield, Mo. -- Nineteen trips to the try line. Thirteen Saints getting in on the scoring. One busy afternoon for the record book. Aquinas men's rugby unleashed a relentless attack in a 123-7 victory over Drury. Yes, you read that correctly — 123. We checked. The keyboard is working just fine. The Maroon and White set a program record for points in a single game, but head coach Lance Hohaia's message remained clear: Enjoy the win. Keep getting better.

Aquinas 123, Drury 7

AQ piled up 19 tries, worth five points apiece, and added 14 two-point conversions to establish the new program scoring standard.

Liam Inman led the Saints with four tries and 13 conversions, accounting for 46 points. Liam Scott-Pages, Sinamoni Hola and Jacob Easterling scored twice apiece.

Cian Conway, Noah Davis, Austin Maczuga, Kris Bronkhorst, Gavin Thompson, Trayvon Mathis, Nick Hernandez, Darryl Lunon and Jacob Fleming each added one try, giving Aquinas 13 different try scorers. Elijah Uyenco contributed the Saints' other conversion.

The production reflected an attack that maintained pressure throughout the contest. Aquinas largely followed the structures and game plan established during the week, keeping Drury under pressure as the Saints continued to find opportunities to score.

Even with the offense rolling, Hohaia saw room for a sharper performance. The Saints occasionally tried to do too much rather than remain patient and trust their attacking structures, leaving decision-making and execution as priorities for the weeks ahead.

Drury's only points came on a penalty try late in the first half following repeated Aquinas defensive infringements near its own goal line. The seven-point award served as a reminder that discipline must remain a priority regardless of the margin.

The match also provided meaningful playing time for several younger Saints. Those opportunities allowed developing players to gain experience while strengthening competition for places across the squad as Aquinas moves toward an important stretch of its season.

With the win, AQ Men's Rugby improves to 3-1, as they prepare to wrap up the regular season and plan for the postseason.

Saints Snapshots

  • History made together: Thirteen Saints reached the try line as Aquinas established a new program scoring standard.
  • Pressure with purpose: AQ's sustained attack largely reflected the preparation and game plan put in place during the week.
  • Trust the approach: Hohaia wants the Saints to recognize when patience will create a better opportunity than trying to force the next play.
  • Standards stay high: Drury's penalty try gave Aquinas a clear reminder that discipline matters at every stage of a match.
  • The next Saints step forward: Younger squad members gained meaningful minutes, building experience and adding to the competition for roles.

Coach's Comments

Coach Hohaia praised the Saints' intent and sustained pressure while keeping the focus on the details that will matter in tighter contests. He also welcomed the opportunity to give younger players meaningful minutes as competition within the squad continues to grow.

"The guys largely stuck to the script, played with good intent and were relentless in their approach. There were certainly moments where we tried to do a little too much rather than trusting our structures, and our discipline is something we'll continue to address.

"It was pleasing to give a number of our younger players some meaningful game time. We've got good competition for places across the squad, and opportunities like today are important for their development.

"We're happy with the win, but there's plenty we can continue to improve on as we head into an important stretch of the season."
