Grand Rapids, Mich. -- At this rate, Mondays might need a little rebranding.

What was once simply the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week announcement is starting to feel a whole lot more like the co-sponsored WHAC/AQ Player of the Week Awards, as the Saints have become regular contestants on the conference's weekly awards show.

This Monday was certainly no exception.

Three Saints heard their names called, with Aquinas men's soccer sweeping both sides of the conference award sheet and women's volleyball adding another honor coming off of one of the biggest weeks of the season.

Senior Fikret Hasovic was named WHAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, junior goalkeeper Dario Cela collected Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors and sophomore Natalie West was selected WHAC Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week.

For Cela, the award is becoming familiar territory. He has now been selected WHAC Defensive Player of the Week three times this season — including back-to-back weeks.

West earns her second Setter of the Week honor of 2026, while Hasovic collects the first WHAC weekly award of his Aquinas career.

Dario Cela | Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

At this point, Mondays and Dario Cela are beginning to have something in common.

For the third time this season and second consecutive week, the Aquinas goalkeeper has been named the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Cela played all 90 minutes in AQ's 7-0 conference victory at Rochester Christian on Wednesday, stopping all four shots on goal he faced to record the clean sheet.

The junior didn't need the 16 saves he made during the previous week's two matches. He didn't have to repeatedly rescue the Saints from dangerous situations.

Instead, Cela did exactly what a goalkeeper on a dominant team must do: stay engaged, stay organized and be ready when called upon.

Four shots reached his goal.

Four saves.

Zero goals.

Another WHAC victory.

Another clean sheet.

Another conference award.

Cela has now earned the defensive honor three times through the opening portion of the 2026 season. His first came after a six-save shutout in AQ's season-opening 1-0 victory over Indiana Northwest. His second followed a 16-save week against Spring Arbor and Cleary.

This one came in an entirely different kind of match — and that might say as much about Cela's season as anything.

"Dario has shown that he can impact a game in a lot of different ways," Aquinas head coach Luke Ruff said. "There have been matches where we've needed him to make save after save to keep us in it, and Wednesday was different. We controlled a lot of the match, but a goalkeeper still has to stay mentally locked in and make the saves when those moments come. Dario did that, and our entire defensive group deserves credit for another clean sheet. To earn this award three times already says a lot about the consistency he has given us."

While Cela was keeping Rochester Christian off the scoreboard, Hasovic was creating plenty of activity on the other end.

Three goals.

One hat trick.

One emphatic WHAC road victory.

Hasovic powered the Aquinas attack in the Saints' 7-0 victory over Rochester Christian, scoring three times and producing six points as AQ improved to 2-0 in conference play.

The senior midfielder was relentless around the Rochester Christian goal, taking nine shots and putting five on frame.

He also converted his lone penalty kick and was credited with the game-winning goal.

For Hasovic, a Grand Rapids native with extensive experience at the club, futsal and collegiate levels, the performance resulted in his first career WHAC Player of the Week honor.

And it came on a day when the Saints' offense found another gear.

"Fikret has the ability to change a match, and we saw that Wednesday," Ruff said. "He was aggressive, confident and decisive when opportunities presented themselves. Scoring three goals is special, but I also liked the way he helped set the tone for our attack and continued to push the game forward. Fikret has put a lot into his game, so it is great to see him rewarded with his first WHAC Player of the Week honor."

Natalie West | Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week

Four matches.

Four Aquinas victories.

And Natalie West was right in the middle of all of it.

West directed the No. 9-ranked Saints through one of their busiest and most demanding stretches of the season, handing out 138 assists in just 12 sets — an average of 11.50 assists per set.

The sophomore opened the week with 16 assists in a sweep of Olivet before helping AQ take its show on the road.

West handed out 36 assists and fired four service aces as the Saints defeated Indiana Tech in four sets. The victory was Aquinas' 50th consecutive WHAC win.

Less than 24 hours later, West and the Saints were back on the floor for two more matches.

She delivered 41 assists and 12 digs in a three-set victory over Northwestern Ohio, then added 45 assists as Aquinas knocked off No. 21 Cumberlands in four sets.

That's 86 assists in seven sets on Saturday alone.

And, just as she did while earning her first Setter of the Week honor two weeks ago, West contributed far beyond setting the volleyball.

She finished the four-match week with 15 kills while hitting .414, seven service aces, 29 digs and six blocks.

The numbers reinforce what Aquinas has seen throughout her sophomore season: West isn't simply directing the Saints' offense.

She's influencing matches everywhere.

"Natalie had an outstanding week, especially considering the quality of competition and how much volleyball we played in a short period of time," Aquinas head coach Ryan Campbell said. "To average 11.5 assists per set over four wins is impressive by itself, but Natalie continues to give us so much more. She attacked at .414, served aggressively, defended and blocked for us. Her ability to contribute in every phase is a huge part of what makes our offense work, and she continues to grow as the leader running it."

The latest award gives West two WHAC Setter of the Week honors this season and comes as Aquinas continues one of the strongest starts in program history.

The Saints are ranked No. 9 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, the highest ranking in program history, and have climbed even higher in the Massey Ratings, where Aquinas is now No. 5 nationally — another program high.

Add in 50+ consecutive WHAC victories dating back to the 2023 WHAC Tournament championship match, and West is directing an Aquinas team that continues to push into territory the program has never seen before.

Three Saints in the Spotlight

For Aquinas, Monday's announcement brought together three very different performances.

A goalkeeper who continues to make weekly conference recognition feel almost routine.

A senior midfielder celebrating the first weekly conference honor of his career after a three-goal afternoon.

And a sophomore setter directing one of the nation's top volleyball teams through four victories in four days.

Cela has three.

West has two.

Hasovic has his first.

And the Maroon and White have three more WHAC Player of the Week awards to celebrate.

At this rate, AQ might want to keep a standing reservation for next Monday's awards show.
