Biography
Jaben Bakker
Hudsonville, Michigan, native Jaben Bakker is a junior at Aquinas double-majoring in Mathematics and Chemical Physics with a minor in Spanish. A 2023 graduate of Hudsonville High School, Bakker set school records in the 5k and 800m, was an OK Red All-Conference selection in 2023, a regional 4x400m champion in 2022, and the individual runner-up at the 2022 OK Red XC championships. At Aquinas, he became the 2025 WHAC Indoor 1000m champion and contributed to the Saints’ 2024 WHAC cross country championship. Bakker’s path to AQ was cemented after a bet with future teammate Noah Momber; the two ran a relay together in high school, and when they qualified for states, Bakker committed to Aquinas. He credits hard work and discipline in all areas of life as his keys to success and is also an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
