Takas Headshot

Mary Takas

Mary Takas joined the Aquinas College Athletic Department in her current full-time position as the Manager of Operations starting in the fall of 2023. She also works with the Aquinas softball program as one of the assistant coaches and has been on the staff since the 2020 season.

As the Manager of Operations, Takas is responsible for overseeing all gameday operations and staffing. She directly oversees the training and employment of all Aquinas student workers within AQ athletic operations. Takas also assists in managing the operations budget, facility requests from the coaching staff, and all concessions needs.

Mary Takas is no stranger to Aquinas Athletics. She is a graduate of Aquinas who participated in two sports, having played basketball and softball from 1980-1985.

Mary started her coaching career at AQ in 1986 as both the assistant softball and basketball coach. From 1989-1994, she was the head softball coach and compiled a record of 152-95 (.651%) over her six-year career. Mary led the program to their first National Tournament appearance in 1990.

In 2009, Takas was inducted into the Aquinas College Hall of Fame for her successful coaching career with the softball program.

Mary retired from the United Postal Service after 35 years of service. She continues to pursue her passion of coaching with the AQ softball program once again.
