Kevin Winne begins his eighth season as the men’s and women’s associate head track & field coach at Aquinas College. This year will mark Winne’s tenth with the program overall. He has guided the female sprinters to school records in the 200 meters, 400 meters and 600 meters indoors and in the 100 meters, 400 meters and the 4x400 meter relay outdoors. Coach Winne has also guided the men to school records in the indoor 60 meter hurdles, 400 meters and 4x400 relay as well as the 400 meters, 110 hurdles and 400 meter hurdles and 4x400 relay outdoors. In nine years he has coached 35 athletes to NAIA All-American honors and 2 national champions.
Before moving up to the college ranks, Winne coached at Kenowa Hills for 11 years, where his teams won 12 conference titles. The boys program also captured two regional championships during his tenure. He also has coached a national champion, five state champions and a total of 45 all-state performers. Winne taught science at Kenowa Hills for the past 13 years before becoming a full-time coach at Aquinas.
He attended Central Michigan University and received his Bachelor’s in Biology and Earth Science. He also competed for the Chippewas on their track and field team and specialized in the 100 and 200 meters. Winne is the current school record holder in the 200 meters (20.95).
