Lance Hoezee joins the Aquinas men’s hockey staff as an assistant coach for the new Division III program. A Grand Rapids native, Hoezee attended Western Michigan University, where he studied secondary education with a major in social studies and a minor in history.
Hoezee brings both playing and coaching experience to the Saints. He previously spent two seasons on the staff at Ferris State University, working alongside Coach Nolan with the ACHA program, and has been immersed in the game of hockey his entire life. In addition to his collegiate coaching background, he has competed in various men’s leagues and stays active scouting and analyzing games through LiveBarn.
Outside of coaching, Hoezee enjoys reading, working out, board games, and spending time with family and friends. He lives in Grand Rapids with his partner, Rachael, and stepdaughter, Rose—whom he hopes will one day become a Saint herself.
“The decision to join Aquinas was a no-brainer,” Hoezee said. “When Coach Nolan received the opportunity to lead the new D3 program, he asked me to come with him. The welcome to Aquinas has been amazing, and I’m more than happy with the opportunity we’ve been given.”
