The Aquinas women's volleyball team tallied its third sweep over its past four matches, as the Saints posted a 3-0 victory on Wednesday (Oct. 2) over visiting UM-Dearborn. AQ made quick work of the visiting Wolverines to begin its three-match homestand, needing just over an hour to take down UMD by scores of 25-14, 25-9, and 25-21.
Aquinas has put together a nice stretch recently, winning four of its last six matches – and only losing in five sets in its other two contests. The Saints improve to 7-9 overall and 4-3 in WHAC play. UM-Dearborn drops to 2-15 on the season and 1-7 in league action.
AQ hit .227 with 36 kills on Wednesday, while limiting the Wolverines to just 16 kills and 23 errors for a -.071 hitting percentage. In each of the first two sets, Aquinas held UM-Dearborn to a negative hitting percentage and the visitors managed just a .027 attack clip in set three. The Saints held advantages in every other statistical category, including digs (51-42), blocks (12-6), aces (8-2), and assists (34-16).
Seven different Saints tallied a kill in the win, as the offense was spread around pretty evenly.
Payton Klein posted a match-high eight kills, while adding five blocks and three aces. She hit. 357 on her 14 swings.
Kylie Christensen and
Jackie Rozell added seven kills each, with Christensen providing a match-high six blocks and Rozell adding four block assists.
Kali Crawford totaled 26 assists, 10 digs, five kills on nine attempts, and three total blocks.
Maddie Ingraham put down six kills in 18 attempts, while
Karly Morris notched 15 digs, six assists, and two service aces.
Meredith Kraus supplied seven digs, three block assists, and two kills.
Kenzie Sanders served up a pair of aces for AQ.
The Saints continue their current homestand on Friday night (Oct. 4) against Siena Heights. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. AQ concludes the week at home against Lourdes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 5).
