The Aquinas women's basketball team was unable to get the tying or go-ahead basket in the final 90 seconds against #15 Lindsey Wilson on Friday (Nov. 1) in Richmond, Ind., with the Saints coming up on the short end of a 65-63 final score against the Blue Raiders. AQ trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half and nearly overcame an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter before Lindsey Wilson finished off the victory.
Â
With the loss, Aquinas drops to 1-2 on the year, with the losses coming to Indiana Wesleyan – who, like AQ, is listed in the Receiving Votes category of the Top-25 – and #15 Lindsey Wilson, which improves to 2-0. The Saints are back in action on Saturday (Nov. 2) at 4:00 p.m. against IU-East, the host school of this weekend's action.
Â
Aquinas actually outscored Lindsey Wilson in both the third and fourth quarters, while the second quarter scoring was 14-apiece. It was the Blue Raiders' quick start and a 19-14 first quarter lead that held up in the end.
Â
The Saints shot 41.3 percent from the field and made 7-17 three-point tries, while holding Lindsey Wilson to 37.5 percent shooting and a 3-14 mark from long range. LWC was 8-13 at the charity stripe, while AQ went 4-10 at the line.
Â

Â
AQ rallied back from the 12-point deficit and tied the game at 43-all when Frederickson scored on an old-fashioned three-point play late in the third quarter. Lindsey Wilson took the 49-45 edge to the fourth quarter and led 60-54 on a field goal with 5:52 to play; that would be the Blue Raiders' final bucket of the game, as Aquinas allowed just five points – all free throws – over the final 5:52.
Â
Jaylynn Williams drained a three-pointer and
Camaryia Williams scored on a fast break layup to make it a 65-63 score with 1:34 remaining. Neither team would score again, with AQ missing a three-pointer in the final seconds for the team's best option to complete the comeback victory.Â
