The first three quarters featured a dominant performance for the Aquinas women's basketball team as they defeated Madonna by a score of 84-70 in the team's WHAC home opener on Saturday (Nov. 16).

AQ improves its record to 3-3 overall on the season and 1-0 in the WHAC while Madonna falls to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the WHAC.

Daz'Sha Day was the main story for the Saints scoring 22 points on 8-15 shooting in 19 minutes of play. She also had four steals and three rebounds. Day was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line.
Camaryia Williams had four steals as well as the Saints forced nine turnovers for the games. Williams scored 14 points on 6-11 shooting and added five rebounds and three assists.

Aquinas shot 47.8 percent from the field including 75 percent in the second quarter and 60 percent in the third quarter. The Crusaders had a 31.8% shooting percentage for the game. AQ had a 3-1 advantage in made three-pointers and was 17 of 26 from the free-throw line.

The Saints had a slight edge in rebounding with 45 compared to Madonna's 43 boards. AQ finished with a 31-25 advantage in defensive rebounds.
Ally Frederickson led the team in rebounds with eight while
Kailee Ford came off the bench and grabbed six rebounds and added three assists.
Jayda Smith added nine points on 4-5 shooting.
Artrese Williams and
Brionne Crews each had three boards in the win.

Marissa Brady had three blocks off the bench while scoring seven points on 3-5 shooting as well as adding five rebounds.
Brighton Miller scored eight points and was 3-4 from the line while
JaKarri Alven and
Jordyn Wigg each added six points off the bench. Alven had three assists, as did
Jaylynn Williams who had two rebounds. The Saints held a 15-9 advantage in total assists.

AQ had a 12-8 advantage in fast-break points as well as a 46-36 lead in points in the paint and a 35-23 edge in points off of the bench.Â

The Saints are back on the court on Tuesday, November 19th when the team heads to Indiana to take on Huntington. The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
