The women's soccer team saw its 10 match winning streak snapped today in the WHAC Tournament Finals as they fell to #3-ranked UNOH on the Racers home field. The loss drops the Saints to 17-3-1 on the season.
Aquinas came into the day assured a spot in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament field as the WHAC's #2 team, but looked to claim its second straight WHAC Tournament Title after defeating Madonna in the 2018 championship. Unfortunately for the Saints, UNOH had other plans on the day, and dispatched Aquinas by a final of 5-0. The Racers opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a goal by Brooke Goodrich, but the Saints would rally and keep the game close at the half-time break. Despite being outshot 7-0 in the first 45 minutes, Aquinas trailed just 1-0 heading into the second-half.
In the second-half the Racers took control, scoring three times in a 10 minute span to take a 4-0 lead. UNOH would cap things off with a penalty-kick goal in the 86th minute to make it 5-0. On the day, the Racers had an advantage in shots (16-4), corners (4-2) and shots on goal (8-3). Goalkeeper
Braeleigh McCoy made three saves for the Saints on the afternoon.
Aquinas will now wait until Monday's live National Championship Selection Show to find out their National Tournament fate. The Saints' seeding and opening round location will be revealed on Monday, November 18th at Noon EST. You can watch the announcement show live
