While the women's soccer team knew they had clinched an automatic berth in the 2019 NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament, they were unsure of where they were going and who they were playing to start their championship quest. The Saints learned their fate this afternoon during the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament Selection Show.
Aquinas will open play this Friday, November 22nd against Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) in Columbia, Missouri as part of the Columbia Region. The winner of the match between the Saints and Tigers will advance to take on the host school, #4 Central Methodist (Mo.).Â
The Saints enter the matchup just outside of the Top-25 rankings (#2 in the Receiving Votes section) with a 17-3-1 overall record and as WHAC regular season and tournament runners-up. Olivet Nazarene finished the regular season ranked #25 with a 17-2-1 record. The Tigers won both the CCAC regular season and conference tournament championship.
This is the second straight trip to the NAIA National Tournament for the Saints, who fell 2-0 last year to Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in the Opening Round.Â
