Women's Hockey Stopped by RMU 9-1

Box Score The women's hockey team dropped a 9-1 decision this evening against Robert Morris University of Illinois at Southside Ice Arena. The third straight loss for the Saints drops their record this season to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in CCWHA conference play.

The visiting Eagles came out and took control on the scoreboard early, scoring  a pair of goals early in the first-period to grab the momentum and the advantage. The Saints were unable to claw back and find a counter, falling behind 5-0 before Morgan Morgrette got the Saints on the scoreboard. The freshman's second goal of the year cut the lead to 5-1, and was assisted by Alyssa Buzar. The helper was Buzar's team-leading fifth on the year.

Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Saints would get, as the visitors tacked on four more on the way to a 9-1 victory. Goaltender Ally Kennedy made 31 saves in net for the Saints on the night.

The two teams will regroup and tangle again tomorrow afternoon, with the Saints hosting the Eagles at Southside Ice Arena for a 3:30 pm puckdrop. Watch live on the AQ Sports Network.
