Aquinas gave the #11-ranked Taylor Trojans all they could handle on Tuesday in Upland, Indiana but came up just short of victory by a score of 69-55. It was a valiant effort as the Saints faced the Trojans who are undefeated.Â

AQ is now 7-7 overall and remains 4-2 in the WHAC while Taylor improves its undefeated record to 12-0.

The Saints played a great first half taking a 15-11 after one quarter of play and took a 26-22 advantage into the half. AQ held Taylor to 8-of-30 (26.7 percent) shooting from the field in the first half including 2-of-12 on shots other than three pointers. AQ forced seven first half turnovers and led for most of the first half.

Kailee Ford hit two three-points after Taylor took its first lead in the third quarter. The game would go back and forth as the Trojans held a 47-46 lead at the end of the third frame.

AQ held Taylor well below their season-average in points but it was not enough as Taylor outscored the Saints 22-9 in the fourth quarter. The final score was not indicative of the overall quality of play.

Daz'Sha Day led the Saints in scoring with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting and 2-of-3 from three-point range. She also added two assists.
JaKarri Alven scored nine points on 2-of-6 shooting in addition to making 4-of-4 of her free throws. Alven grabbed two rebounds.

Camaryia Williams led the team in rebounds with 12 including nine defensive boards. Williams scored nine points on 3-of-9 shots, stole the ball twice and dished out six assists.
Marissa Brady added six points on 3-of-5 shooting.

Ford went 3-of-4 from three-point range to total nine points while
Brighton Miller went 2-of-5 from behind the arc to score six points. Miller added four rebounds.
Ally Frederickson totaled six rebounds including five on the defensive glass.
Jordyn Wigg grabbed three rebounds while
Destini Lewis had two assists.

AQ shot 36.5 percent from the field on 19-of-52 shooting for the game while the Trojans shot 40.4% on 23-of-57 shots. The Saints went 8-of-12 from the free throw line and 9-of-26 (34.6 percent) from three-point range.

The Saints held a 22-12 advantage in bench points and a 10-9 advantage in points off turnovers. The team held its own inside the perimeter by drawing level at 20-20 in points in the paint.

Aquinas returns home on Saturday, December 21st when the team takes on Grace Christian at 1:00 PM in the Sturrus Center.
