Box Score The women's soccer team traveled to Ft. Wayne to take on Indiana Tech in the WHAC conference opener for the Saints. Aquinas will head home with a 3-0 win and a 1-0 record in WHAC play, while improving to 6-1 on the season. The Saints have won three games in a row by a combined score of 16-1.Â
The Saints stormed off to 2-0 start thanks to a pair of goals by sophomore forward
Abby Frankhouse, starting for the first time this season. In the 13th minute, Frankhouse corralled a loose ball in front of the net and put it in the back of the net to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later the lead doubled when
Jenna Smith found Frankhouse open behind the defense for a breakaway that Frankhouse finished for her second of the game and third goal of the year.
Aquinas would put an exclamation mark on the game in the 68th minute, with Smith once again involved in a Saints goal. Smith crossed the ball into the box and found
Filippa Struxsjo, who put the game away with her fourth goal of the season. With a pair of assists today, Smith now has seven helpers in just eight games.Â
Statistically, the game was close, with the Saints only outshooting their hosts 17-16 on the day and winning three corners to the Warriors one. However, it was the Saints who were able to create the dangerous scoring opportunities and convert them on the way to a big WHAC road win. Saints' goalkeeper
Braeleigh McCoy made four saves in net to earn the win and second indvidual shutout of the season.Â
Aquinas is back in action next Wednesday at Cornerstone at 7:00 pm.Â
