Men's Lacrosse Signs Ethan Young

The men's lacrosse team has announced its first official signing for the 2021 recruiting class, receiving a Letter of Intent from Livonia, Michigan's Ethan Young.

Young will come to Aquinas after prepping at Livonia Stevenson High School. A great all-around athlete, Young has played varsity basketball for Stevenson for three years, and is a three-year member of the varsity Livonia United lacrosse program. He also played football for Stevenson as a WR/DE. He has played travel lacrosse for both Livonia Raptors and PLG (Premier Lacrosse Group). Young is a 6'-7'' defender who has also played as a midfielder in his career.

"We are excited to add Ethan as our newest future Saint," said Head Coach Doug Seites. "He brings great length and athleticism to our defense, and will be a great for what we like to do on that side of the field."

On the basketball court, Young has helped Stevenson win three-straight City Championships (2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20), and was named honorable-mention KLAA in 2019-20. On the lacrosse field, Young was named team Co-MVP his sophomore season in 2018-19.

Added defensive coordinator Peter Treppa, "Ethan is a multi-sport athlete with great size. He is a tall and rangy defender that has the ability to play tough on ball defense and stellar off-ball team defense. He has a ton of potential and I believe he is a great addition to our defense. We are very lucky to have Ethan and his family joining us."

"I chose Aquinas because I wanted to stay in Michigan to further my academic and athletic career," said Young "I also liked the campus and close proximity to Grand Rapids." He will study Biology at Aquinas College.
