The Aquinas College men's lacrosse team has traveled down to the Bluegrass state for their next signing in their 2021 recruiting class, getting a Letter of Intent from Reed Chastain.
Chastain hails from Crestwood, Kentucky and attends South Oldham High School. He is a three-year varsity letterman and starter for the Dragons' lacrosse team. During his time at South Oldham, the Dragons have won three-straight District Championships, and have advanced to the State Semi-Finals twice. Reed also participated in cross country at South Oldham as a freshman.
Reed has a lot of experience on the travel/club lacrosse circuit, playing for Commonwealth Kings, Mingos and True Kentucky. He also has box lacrosse experience, playing for L4 Box Lacrosse, one of the top Box programs in the Midwest. Primarily a faceoff midfielder, Chastain will play midfield and handle duties at the faceoff-x for the Saints. Reed was a 2020 National Faceoff Showcase attendee, and has been invited to the 2021 National Faceoff Showcase and 2021 National Faceoff Combine.
"We are really excited to add Reed to the program," said head coach
Doug Seites. "He is a very hard-worker. He's a great student and someone who is constantly trying to improve himself. Reed will play a big role for us over the next four years as a faceoff-man and midfielder. He's proven himself against tough competition and other top faceoff guys. He can make plays with the ball in his stick as well and will be a great fit here at AQ."
"I knew Reed was a great fit for our culture after our first phone call," said assistant coach
Stephen Treppa. "Not only is he a talented lacrosse player, but he's a great student. Reed is the kind of guy we can count on to take care of business in the classroom as well as make time to improve his craft on the field."
When asked about what he was looking forward to while at AQ, Chastain said, "I'm most excited about being able to further my academic and athletic career while being in a great city (Grand Rapids) at Aquinas." He will study Sports Management & Business Administration at Aquinas College.
