The Aquinas women's basketball dropped a road decision in Fort Wayne at #11 Indiana Tech to close the regular season, as the Warriors notched a 67-49 victory. Indiana Tech used big second and third quarters to begin to pull away from AQ, outscoring the Saints by 14 points over that 20-minute stretch.

With the result, Aquinas closes the regular season with a 16-13 overall record and a 12-8 mark in league play. Indiana Tech capped off its regular season championship with a 19-1 mark in conference action; the Warriors are 26-4 overall.

AQ finished the regular season tied for fourth place in the WHAC standings with Concordia, but the Saints won the tiebreaker and will host the Cardinals in the conference tournament's opening round. Aquinas and CUAA will square off on Thursday (Feb. 27) in the WHAC quarterfinals at a time to be determined.

The teams split their regular season meetings, with each team winning on their own home floor. AQ was victorious on Jan. 4 by a 58-50 final in the Sturrus Center, while the Cardinals won 59-42 on Feb. 8 in Ann Arbor.Â

Aquinas led after the opening 10 minutes, 16-15. Indiana Tech made a big run in the second quarter and took a 38-30 lead to halftime, then allowed the Saints to score just six points in the third quarter. It was 49-36 going into the fourth quarter and AQ could not pull within single digits over the final 10 minutes.
