Saints Fall to Concordia on the Road, 59-42

Brady Scores 15 With Four Blocks, Williams Adds 11 Rebounds

The AQ women's basketball team fell on the road to Concordia on Saturday (Feb. 8) by a 59-42 margin in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
 
Aquinas is now 14-12 overall and 10-7 in the WHAC while Concordia improves to 16-9 and 10-6 in the WHAC and moves into fourth-place.
 
The Saints only trailed by one point after the first quarter at 13-12 and by only five at the half at 33-28. However, the Cardinals took control in the second half and outscored AQ 26-14 in the second half.
 
Aquinas's best spurt came in the fourth quarter as the team went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to three from 44-33 to 44-41. Concordia would score the next 13 points and would claim the victory.
 
Marissa Brady scored 15 points to lead AQ on 5-of-10 shooting while grabbing nine rebounds (seven defensive, two offensive) and blocking four shots. Camaryia Williams led the team in rebounds with 11 (six offensive, five defensive) and had four points and two steals.
 
Daz'Sha Day and JaKarri Alven each scored four points while Kailee Ford and Jayda Smith had three points. Day had seven rebounds (three offensive, four defensive) as well as four assists. Jaylynn Williams scored seven points on 3-of-5 shots.
 
AQ took 59 shots in the game and went 15-of-59 (25.4%) from the field. The team was also 11-of-22 from the free throw line and made one three pointer on 17 attempts. Concordia was 23-of-59 (39.0%) from the field, three of 14 from three-point range and 10-of-15 from the free throw line.
 
The Saints held advantages in offensive rebounds (17-9), overall rebounds (47-40), blocks (4-3) and second chance points (7-6). The Cardinals led in other categories.
 
Aquinas looks to get back on the right track next Saturday (Feb. 15) at 1:00 PM for a Senior Day matchup against conference rival Cornerstone.
