The Aquinas men's tennis team fell to NCAA Division II opponents Davenport and Lake Superior State on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon (Oct. 1-2). The Saints were upended by the Panthers 4-3 at the Farmers Athletic Complex yesterday before competing in their only home match of the fall schedule at MVP Sportsplex where they faced the Lakers and were defeated 7-0.
Against the Panthers, the Saints doubles teams of
Simon Uhlen and
Max Goldbeck-Lowe,
Joel Hancox and
Nicholas Klak, and
Brandon McEachern and
Mariano Arroyo all dropped their doubles contests by the scores of 1-6, 3-6, and 0-6, as DU took the doubles point.
Aquinas and Davenport split the singles matches 3-3 to give the Panthers the 4-3 victory. Hancox won the #4 singles 6-3, 6-3 with McEachern taking the #5 singles 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 and Arroyo coming out on top in the #6 singles 6-2, 3-6, 10-1. DU were able to get single wins over #1 Uhlen (1-6, 1-6), #2 Klak (2-6, 3-6), and #3 Goldbeck-Lowe (0-6, 4-6).
Against the Lakes, the Saints were not able to get anything going as doubles teams of Uhlen and Goldbeck-Lowe, Hancox and Klak, and McEachern and Arroyo were swept in their doubles contests by the scores of 3-6, 2-6, and 3-6.
AQ was upended in all the singles matches as Uhlen (0-6, 0-6), Klak (4-6, 3-6), Goldbeck-Lowe (4-6, 3-6), Hancox (0-6, 3-6), McEachern (3-6, 5-6), and Arroyo (2-6, 5-7) were defeated.
The Saints finished the fall season 1-4 with the win coming against Goshen and will look toward the spring season.
