Aquinas Blows Out Rochester on Senior Day

The Saints put on an offensive clinic in a 3-0 sweep against Rochester

The AQ women's volleyball team played its final home match of the regular season today (Oct. 30) against the Rochester University Warriors. Meredith Kraus started the first set off with a bang, netting seven kills with a whopping .667 hitting percentage. The Kraus rampage led to a 25-20 win in the first set.

Everything went right for Aquinas in the second set, as they went on several runs to run up a 25-12 second set victory. The hot streak continued as the Saints continued to roll in the third set, winning by a score of 25-11.

Another 3-0 sweep for the Saints improves their record to 21-13 with a conference record of 12-7. Aquinas is continuing to hold onto the fifth seed in the WHAC standings.

AQ dominated Rochester in all statistical categories, leading in kills (46-26), hitting percentage (.429-.071), assists (42-25), service aces (4-2), digs (35-23), and blocks (10-1).

Kraus continued her offensive hot streak with a team-high 14 kills (.462) on the day. Kraus did a little bit of everything today on senior day, adding herself into the service rotation and picking up seven digs and two block assists.

Jackie Rozell added eight kills (.375) to her whopping career kill total, now sitting at 1,176 kills in her career. Rozell now sits at fifth all-time in Aquinas school history in kills. She trails Ashley Bouckaert (1,193 kills) by 17 kills.

Emily Jones played very well on both sides of the ball, adding seven kills (.600) and six block assists.

Chloe Mitchell had herself a game, averaging 12 assists per set in the sweep. She also had three kills (.600), an ace, three digs, and a block assist. 

Adrien Yondo contributed 11 digs and three aces in the match today.

The Saints will play their final match of the season this upcoming Wednesday (Nov 3) before the WHAC tournament begins on November 10.
