The Aquinas men's hockey team increased its win streak to five after putting on a clinic at Big Boy Arena this past Friday (Nov. 5). The Saints poured on ten goals in a shutout victory against Rochester University. Rochester then forfeited the match on Saturday, giving AQ another two wins this past weekend. The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) released its weekly rankings today (Nov. 10) for the men's D1 conference. Aquinas moved up two spots this week, bumping AQ to #15.
The Saints are currently 8-2 this season with a 7-1 WHAC record. After beating Lawrence Tech, sweeping UM-Dearborn, and sweeping Rochester, Aquinas is riding a five-game win streak heading into a huge series against #10 Indiana Tech this weekend (Nov. 12-13).
Mike Curran and
Max Johnston both had great games against Rochester this past Friday, earning WHAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week honors. Curran currently leads the team in goals and points (six and 12, respectively).
Russell Shengulette also had a huge game against the Warriors, posting a goal and two assists.
Mason Stewart continues to lead the team in assists after setting up two more goals last week. Stewart now holds eight assists on the year.
Minot State remained at the top of the rankings this week, followed by Lindenwood. All four WHAC schools moved up in rankings this week, with Indiana Tech now at #10, Aquinas at #15, UM-Dearborn at #16, and Lawrence Tech at #21.
The Saints are set to take on #10 Indiana Tech this Friday (Nov.12) at Southside Ice Arena. The puck is queued the drop at 8:00 PM.
