The AQ softball team and head coach,
Brad Koch, are excited to announce their latest signing of the 2022 recruiting class, Mckenna Hinkle. Hinkle, coming from Byron Center, Michigan is set to join the program for the 2023 season and will be starting her collegiate career in the fall of 2022.
"Mckenna is an outfielder who simply gets to everything and makes it look easy," commented coach Koch about Hinkle. "At the plate, her combo of bunt/slap/power is tough to defend, and her base stealing prowess is rare."
Hinkle played high school ball at Bryon Center High School, where she helped the team win conference championships in 2018, 2019, and 2021. She will play all four years on the varsity team for the Bulldogs and will be a team captain her senior year.
Individually, Hinkle has been playing softball since she was nine years old. With nearly a decade of experience, she was able to earn all-conference, all-district, all-region, and all-state honors with her play at Byron Center. Not only is Hinkle an accomplished softball player, but she has competed in varsity cross country for the Bulldogs as well.
Hinkle plans on majoring in biology and pre-med here at Aquinas. She said this of her decision to become a Saint, "I loved the small campus setting and I felt most at home when I visited the campus. Everyone was very welcoming on my first visit, and I love how the softball program does more than just softball. They do community work and I want to be a part of that."
