AQ Men’s Volleyball Tops Lincoln on Road Trip, 3-0

The Aquinas men's volleyball team traveled to Lincoln, Illinois on Wednesday night (Feb. 17) to take on the Lynx of Lincoln College in a non-conference showdown. The Lynx were unable to answer AQ's strong offense, as the Saints topped Lincoln in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-16.

The Saints and the Lynx battled in the first set having a late score of 17-15. Aquinas rattled off a 8-1 run to close out the first set by a 25-16 score. Mid-set runs in both the second and third sets pushed Aquinas in front of Lincoln, earning AQ the sweep. The win advances AQ to a 3-3 overall record. Lincoln moves to 1-13 overall.

AQ totaled 39 kills and hit .208 as a team. Lincoln finished with 15 kills and hit a -.012 percentage. The Saints notched six service aces while the Lynx tallied zero. Aquinas dished out 36 assists as a team to Lincoln's 13 total.

Aquinas was strong defensively as the Saints came up with nine team blocks while the Lynx only recorded two. AQ also led Lincoln in digs (48-37).

Julian Armendano led the Saints with 10 kills and two service aces. Armendano also added three block assists and five digs. Gavin Yonker tallied eight kills for the Saints and four digs. Matthew Richmond dished out 14 assists and added a pair of kills. Richmond also totaled 10 digs, which was tied for the team-high.

Leo-Paul Rousseau dished out 15 assists of his own and tallied seven digs. Rousseau also finished with three block assists. Kelsey Yogi tied for the team-high. recording 10 digs on the night. Daniel Littleton had three kills and three block assists for AQ. Joseph Koss and Robert Valerio added five kills each. 

The Saints return to action Friday (Feb. 19) as AQ hosts #14 Goshen in a huge WHAC matchup. First serve against the Maple Leafs is set for 5:00 PM inside the Sturrus Center.
