The Aquinas men's hockey team fell on Thursday night (Feb. 25) to Adrian by a 4-1 score on the Bulldogs' home ice. One of the top teams in the country, Adrian scored the game's first three goals and finished off the three-goal victory.

With Thursday's result, Aquinas is 2-4 on the year – with three of those losses coming to the perennial powerhouse Bulldogs. Adrian improves to 11-1 on the season.

The only goal in the first period came from Adrian less than three minutes in, at the 17:39 mark. In the second period, the Bulldogs upped their advantage to 3-0 on goals scored with 15:49 and 12:07 on the clock.Â

With exactly one minute remaining in the second stanza,
Mason Stewart netted AQ's only goal, taking a feed from
Brandon Rozema and
Darren Johnson to get the Saints on the scoreboard.Â

The score would stay that way until late in the third period, as the Bulldogs tallied a power play goal with 4:24 to go in the game. Adrian outshot Aquinas by a 44-24 tally.

Nick Ottenbacher recorded 40 saves in goal for the Saints. There were 11 fouls called on AQ and six on Adrian.Â

Aquinas heads into a WHAC home-and-home series against Indiana Tech this weekend. The opening game is on Friday night (Feb. 26) at Southside Ice Arena at 8:00 p.m.
