The Aquinas men's volleyball team dropped a tough 3-1 WHAC contest in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Friday night (Feb. 26), as the Saints lost to #9 Indiana Tech. AQ and Indiana Tech were extremely similar on the stat sheet, but the home Warriors pulled away by scores of 25-16, 25-23, 19-25, and 25-22.

Friday's result puts Aquinas at 3-5 on the season and 2-4 in WHAC play, while Indiana Tech is now 10-2 overall and 6-1 in league action. It is the only scheduled meeting of the regular season between the WHAC counterparts.

Both AQ and Indiana Tech recorded 47 kills and the Saints (.192, 22 errors) actually outhit the Warriors (.187, 24 errors) in the loss. While IIT led in in aces (7-2), the Warriors held slim edges in blocks (8-7) and assists (44-43), and a larger advantage in digs (50-41).

Julian Armendano led all players with a match-high 20 kills and hit .283 on 46 attempts, adding eight digs, a block, and an ace.
Gavin Jonker hit .320 and posted 12 kills, nine digs, and four block assists.
Daniel Littleton provided eight kills and a .429 hitting percentage.

Leo-Paul Rousseau recorded 24 assists and five digs, while
Matthew Richmond added 13 assists and four digs.
Josh Evers tied Jonker for a team-best nine digs and
Robert Valerio put away four kills.

The Saints did commit 17 service errors, while Indiana Tech made 11 errors on the serve. Otherwise, the teams were very even in statistical categories, despite Indiana Tech winning the match in four sets.

AQ has a quick turnaround on Saturday (Feb. 27), as the Saints head to Milwaukee, Wisc. to take on (RV) Cardinal Stritch. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
