The Aquinas women's volleyball team recorded its 10th victory of the season on Friday night (Feb. 26) in Fort Wayne, Ind., as the Saints earned a 3-0 sweep over Indiana Tech in WHAC play. It was AQ's sixth sweep of the season, as the Saints won on the road by scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-22.
With the victory, Aquinas moves to 10-1 on the season and 6-1 in WHAC action, while Indiana Tech drops to 9-5 overall and 7-3 in league play. The Warriors will come to the Sturrus Center on Mar. 26 in the rematch.
AQ was much better offensively on Friday, totaling 41 kills and a .192 hitting percentage, while limiting Indiana Tech to a .052 attack mark and just 32 kills. The Saints also led in digs (65-59), assists (41-30), blocks (4-1), and aces (4-2) over the Warriors.
Seniors
Payton Klein and
Kylie Christensen both put down 12 kills and combined for just five errors in 67 attempts. Klein added six digs, while Christensen hit .367.
Jackie Rozell totaled seven kills and picked up nine digs.
Kali Crawford recorded a 34-assist, 14-dig double-double, while
Adrien Yondo notched a match-high 18 digs.
Emily Jones supplied six kills in eight attempts, while
Kenzi Dobosiewicz chipped in eight digs.
Aquinas returns to Grand Rapids on Saturday (Feb. 27) for a pair of non-conference matches during a tri-match in the Sturrus Center. The Saints face Huntington at 4:00 p.m. and Spring Arbor at 8:00 p.m. Huntington and Spring Arbor will play each other at 6:00 p.m.
