The Aquinas men's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep at Concordia on Saturday (Apr. 17) to finish out the regular season and help improve AQ's positioning heading into the WHAC Tournament this week. The Saints won both doubles contests and all five singles matches for their third victory in the last five outings.
With the win, AQ improves to 3-4 on the year and 2-3 in conference play. Concordia drops to 1-11 overall and 0-4 in WHAC action. The Saints will soon learn their conference tournament seeding and opponent.
In doubles play, the team of
Max Goldbeck-Lowe and
Joel Hancox earned a 6-0 win at #1 doubles, while
Nicholas Klak and
Brandon McEachern were victorious at #2 doubles, 6-2.
Goldbeck-Lowe shut out his opponent at #1 singles (6-0, 6-0), as did
Simon Uhlen in #2 singles by the same 6-0, 6-0 score.
Mariano Arroyo had little trouble at #3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0.
Jackson VanBergen won 6-3, 6-0 at #4 singles and
Michael Ha notched a 6-0, 6-1 win over his #5 singles counterpart. Concordia withdrew from the #3 doubles and #6 singles matchups.
The opening round of the WHAC Tournament is scheduled for next weekend (Apr. 23-24) at the higher seed in each matchup.
