The Aquinas women's tennis team swept its way through the WHAC Quarterfinals on Friday afternoon (Apr. 23) at the MVP Sportsplex in Grand Rapids. AQ earned the 7-0 victory over visiting Concordia by winning all three doubles matches and all six singles contests to advance in the WHAC Tournament.

It was the second consecutive 7-0 victory over Concordia for the Saints, as AQ swept the Cardinals last Saturday (Apr. 17) in the regular season finale. Aquinas was the tournament's fourth seed, while CUAA was the fifth seed. The result puts the Saints at 4-5 overall, while Concordia's season ends with a 4-12 record.

AQ had little trouble in doubles competition.
Joska Volder and
Sofia Gomez earned a 6-1 win at #1 doubles. Both teams of
Darci TerHaar and
Kiara Berry at #2 doubles and
Vanessa Heylmun and
Sara Forletta at #3 singles won their matchups by identical 6-0 scores.

It was more of the same in singles play. Volder (6-0, 6-0) at #1 singles and Gomez (6-0, 6-3) at #2 doubles registered wins for AQ. TerHaar was victorious at #3 singles by a 6-1, 6-0 score, while
Grace Kelly won her #4 singles matchup by the same 6-1, 6-0 final.Â

Berry and Heylmun did not drop a point in their singles outings, as Berry was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at #5 singles and Heylmun also won 6-0, 6-0 at #6 singles.Â

The Saints advance to face top seed Indiana Tech on Tuesday (Apr. 27) in the semifinals. Aquinas faces the Warriors in Fort Wayne, with the winner advancing to next Friday's (Apr. 30) WHAC championship.
