The Aquinas men's tennis team fell to Indiana Wesleyan and Olivet Nazarene at the IWU Tournament on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 18). The Saints were upended by host Indiana Wesleyan 4-1 at the Stutter Tennis Courts before competing at Marion High School where they faced ONU and their fall record dropped to 0-2 after being defeated 4-0.
Against the Wildcats, the Saints doubles teams of
Simon Uhlen and
Max Goldbeck-Lowe and
Brandon McEachern and
Mariano Arroyo dropped their doubles contests by the scores of 1-6 and 5-7, while the pairing of
Joel Hancox and
Nicholas Klak picked up a 7-6 win in their doubles match.
AQ was able to get one win in #4 singles with Goldbeck-Lowe coming from behind to win (2-6, 6-3, 10-8). IWU were able to get single wins over #1 Uhlen (2-6, 3-6), #5 McEachern (2-6, 2-6), and #6 Arroyo (1-6, 0-6) with #2 Klak and #3 Hancox not finishing before Indiana Wesleyan got the win.
Against the Tigers, the Saints doubles teams of Hancox and Klak and also McEachern and Arroyo dropped their doubles contests by the scores of 4-6 and 2-6, while the pairing of Uhlen and Goldbeck-Lowe did not finish.
AQ was upended in the #1, #3, and #5 singles matches as Uhlen (1-6, 2-6), Goldbeck-Lowe (1-6, 2-6), and McEachern (4-6, 1-6) were defeated as #2 Klak, #4 Hancox, and #6 Arroyo did not finish.
The Saints will next travel to Goshen, Indiana next Saturday (Sept. 25) to take on the Maple Leafs beginning at 12:00 PM.
